This site exists to shorten the distance between those two facts.

It also exists because the information available locally is thin. The City of Bozeman publishes its design snow loads and Montana State University publishes station-by-station data showing the load quadrupling across one county, and almost nobody in this trade tells homeowners any of it. What We Will Not Do

We do not invent local statistics. Every figure on this site — the 46 psf ground snow load, the 41 psf roof load, the station table, the roughly 54 inches of annual snowfall under the NOAA 1991–2020 normals — comes from the City of Bozeman, Montana State University or NOAA, and is attributed on the page it appears on.

We do not post reviews or testimonials, because we have not personally done work for you. When a provider is doing the work, their reputation is theirs to show you.

We never call a provider "licensed," because Montana does not issue a roofing or snow removal trade licence for anyone to hold. Contractors with employees register with the Montana Department of Labor and Industry, and independent operators without employees carry an Independent Contractor Exemption Certificate. The word that actually matters when somebody is on your roof is insured, and that is the word we use.

What to Expect When You Call

Questions, mostly. What the roof is, roughly how much is on it, whether water is coming in, how the roof is reached, and where you are. Those answers decide both the price and the urgency, which is why an estimate over the phone without them would be a made-up number.

If it is an emergency, say so immediately — active leaks and structural concerns get moved ahead of scheduled clearing. If it is October and you are thinking about the eave that dammed last winter, that is the best possible time to call, and the cheapest.
